Weekly Update
Another week deep into summer where some sellers aren’t phased by the possibility of less showing activity. A $13.8M house hit the market on Via Vizcaya in addition to three in town condos. The market has stayed remarkably active this summer despite a natural shedding of inventory and lack of buyers in town.
There weren’t many other notable sales statistics to report this week but it should be noted that rental activity has picked up. Many seasonal renters are in the process of finding a home for a few months this winter. While there is always demand for the short “high season” there have also been a number of people looking for longer term leases of 6 months and even asking about annual rentals for properties just listed seasonally.
Did you know…
There is a 13% tax that is required on leases 6 months or less. For this reason many tenants opt to sign leases for 6 months and a day to avoid the tourist and sales tax.
